Prague turns red due to coronavirus. Instructions on how to avoid danger
The numbers newly infected with covid-19 are in Prague this week they climbed to record high numbers. While hygiene was reported by 268 positive people on Monday, 786 arrived on Thursday, September 17. In just a few days, there were almost 2,000 new cases in the capital. More than 90 people are hospitalized in hospitals due to Covid-19 on Friday.
Mayor Zdeněk Hřib (Pirates) announced that the metropolis is now moving to a red traffic light, which indicates the community’s spread of the disease. In addition to the existing measures, the regulation of distance education at universities has been added.
According to hygienists, people should adapt their behavior to a number of other everyday lives, including activities such as transportation to work or meeting relatives.
Drive safely
If possible, it is better to avoid public transport and choose individual transport. However, if you need to get to public transport, follow the basic rules.
It is important to protect yourself before boarding public transport. The spacing should therefore be observed at the stop to prevent the transmission of droplet infection.
In urban public transport itself, it is mandatory to have a veil on. The regulation also applies to intercity transport, including trains and coaches. Standard and alternative taxi services are no exception, and a veil is mandatory there as well.
If possible, it is recommended to sit as far away as possible from other passengers. Unless necessary, passengers should not make contact with each other.
It is ideal to bring gloves with you and not touch the metal bars and handles without them. Although they are regularly disinfected, the passenger cannot know who was in the same place in front of him. No one should touch your face in the public transport area.
Beware of populated places
For all respiratory diseases, it spreads better in closed rooms where there is a high concentration of people. According to the director of the hygienic station, Zdeněk Jágrová, even in the case of coronavirus, all places where people meet in large numbers are at risk. People should be careful, especially when going to a bar, nightclub, concert or disco.
“It is important to keep your distance and consider whether to attend the event at all and whether I am not going to my grandmother’s home or elsewhere next week and I cannot transfer, I may be without symptoms and difficulties myself,” says the hygienist.
Spacing is also one of the basic lessons of the covid-19.
“It simply came to our notice then. Follow the rule of three Rs in Prague – wear veils, keep spacing and disinfect your hands. In my opinion, hand disinfection in particular is still very much underestimated in our country, “said Mayor Zdeněk Hřib (Pirates).
Meetings are risky
Hygienist Jágrová said earlier in an interview with Seznam Zprávy that there are no large and numerous separate clusters of infected people in the capital – they are rather several smaller groups of people. Most often to transmit the infection in the family and work.
It has been family events such as weddings, funerals or birthday parties that have proven to be potential foci of covid-19 in the past. People should avoid them altogether if they experience symptoms of health problems.
“Every week we have a wedding or a similar gathering where everyone comes. It is precisely a personal responsibility that people do not trivialize it. The mere fact that a person does not feel completely well, which he usually waves his hand at, should really lead to reflection, he has to participate, “said the hygienist.
Veil also at an outdoor event
Veils are also mandatory in the public areas of the Republic in the interior of Prague. According to Jágr, however, it is appropriate to take respiratory protection, for example, in the stands when visiting an outdoor sports match. “Of course, I would use a veil in these cases as well, even if it’s not a building, because there are more people there and you never know,” she said.
However, the rule could soon become an obligation in Prague. As Mayor Hřib confirmed, veils could be mandatory in the future for outdoor events for more than a hundred people.
“I assume that these measures will be announced to the public well in advance, as is customary at the Prague hygiene station, so that people have time to prepare. I now consider these measures to be the minimum of what we can do at the moment in cooperation with hygiene in Prague, so that hygiene in the coming days does not have to come with even stricter regulations, “said the mayor.
Protect risky
Covid-19 is in most cases mild – people who do not belong to the risk groups, but should be responsible and protect you, which in turn threatens the virus more.
In the same way, the elderly and the chronically ill should adapt their behavior. “They should definitely evaluate where they are going and under what circumstances, as an activity they will pay for there – if there is someone in the group where they are going who has just returned from somewhere on vacation and so on. They should evaluate all of this and therefore use a veil wherever it is needed. If they really want to protect themselves, then now there are affordable respirators that should supply and use them where they suggest that transmission could be increased, “said the hygienist.
Follow the precautions
In Prague and in the rest of the Czech Republic, the restrictions on group parking events apply from 6 pm on Friday. The ban announced in advance applies to internal mass events – with the exception of exhibitions, markets, fairs and similar events – with a participation exceeding 10 people at the same time, unless each participant has a designated place to stand.
The ministry decided to take the step due to the risk of “very close and long-term contact of a larger number of people associated with the consumption of beverages and food”. According to epidemiologist Roman Chlíbek, however, this does not mean that one has to sit on a chair all the time. “It’s also a regulation so that there are really as many people in a given space as there are seats,” he said.
Schools and drapes
Due to the rapid increase in those infected, distance learning will be introduced in some schools in Prague. The mayor originally announced the change for secondary and higher education institutions, but subsequently corrected his statement, stating that distance learning would only apply to higher education institutions.
At the same time, from Friday onwards, pupils and teachers have to wear veils in all indoor areas of schools, including classes during classes. The obligation applies to the 2nd level of primary schools, secondary schools and universities. However, according to current measures, the latter will be emptied from Monday and move on to distance learning.
Limited opening hours and disinfection
Unlike the rest of the country, Prague has been limiting the opening hours of catering facilities between midnight and six in the morning since 9 September. From the same dates Praguers wear veils in shops and malls.
The capital has also previously introduced the obligation to disinfect hands when entering publicly accessible buildings. Compliance should be monitored by the operators, unless the visitor disinfects his hands, he should be expelled from the building or establishment.
I don’t want to lie to you that everything is fine (we have a government since then). It’s not. The numbers for the last few days are really warning and the trend will soon be even worse. I therefore call on all Praguers to be as considerate as possible, wearing veils, observing hygiene and spacing. pic.twitter.com/JqTHIE9Tro

Zdeňka Jágrová has already pointed out that the current situation for her facility is difficult to manage. With regard to staffing and testing capacity, it is considered that quarantined people will not have to take a second test before it ends and that the quarantine period will be reduced from the current ten to seven days. She informed ČTK about it on Thursday.
From Monday, self-dumping via an online form will also work, which the hygienists will then process. According to Jágrová, this could free up additional personnel capacity. According to predictions, 20 percent of people could use this method, she added.
Public data
People can now get accurate epidemiological data about the situation in Prague watch online.
