They are happy in Prague again, the results of the survey showed
It published the results of the tenth year of the comparison, which takes into account “hard data” from eight areas, as well as the views of survey participants on their satisfaction with life in the place.
Prague took first place for the fifth time and improved significantly compared to last year – last year the metropolis was only fifth. It saw the biggest shift in leisure and tourism, where it “jumped” from last year’s seventh to this year’s second place.
In four areas this time the capital received the best rating of all, in the second two the best. On the contrary, it ended up in safety and the environment, just like the fourteenth year ago, ie the very last.
“Research also shows that the benefits of living in the metropolis of Prague are fully appreciated. Their overall subjective satisfaction is only slightly above average when comparing all regions, “also state the authors of the probe.

It is not surprising that Prague is the Czech Republic’s premier in terms of access to medical care. There are over three hundred pharmacies in the capital, which is the densest network of all regions. There are also the most doctors, dentists and hospital beds per inhabitant.
The average life expectancy, as in the only region so far, has exceeded 80 years. In this indicator, the city is four years longer than in the Ústí nad Labem region, mainly in the category of men who live here on average over 78 years. Women have been “sharing” the championship with Vysočina for almost 83 years.
In social services, the situation is less rosy. For example, Prague residential facilities for the elderly have a capacity of around 11 beds per thousand pensioners, which is the lowest of all regions.
Education is of high quality in the national comparison. This is evidenced, among other things, by the first place in the success of students at state graduations. It exceeded 92 percent last school year. Universities, of which there are almost thirty in Prague, have long been among the “prides” of Prague. In their number, Prague leads the others “by a pair”. And a similar dominance exists in the field of transport infrastructure, cultural and sports offerings.
In Prague, for example, there are over sixty theaters, while in some regions there are only units. There are also more than eleven sports facilities in the metropolis. However, due to population density, this does not automatically result in the best services. Prague has the least number of pools and natural swimming pools per capita. It’s the same with the post office. On the other hand, the Prague agglomeration offers, for example, the densest network of filling stations.
Traditionally, Prague has failed in the evaluation of the environment and security, respectively the crime rate. In these respects, however, the city, with its anonymity and the absence of a “free landscape”, has a virtually unbeatable handicap.
In addition to the metropolis, most people move to the Central Bohemian Region. Satisfaction with life in which the locals rate even a step higher than in Prague. However, the quality of some services lags behind. “Central Bohemians do not like the state of health care and social care at all, they are not very satisfied with safety and working conditions,” said Datank researchers, who collected data in February, and the subsequent “coronary crisis” has not yet been reflected in the survey.
