Seifertova Street will change, tram stops are about to be moved
Currently, there is a large distance between the Husinecká and Hlavní nádraží stops, and, conversely, a short distance between the Lipanská and Olšanské náměstí stops, said IPR spokesman Marek Vácha. Therefore, Prague planners expect to move the Lipanská stops about two hundred meters lower to the church to the level of Sladkovské náměstí. The relocation of the Husinecká stop to Winston Churchill Square will probably have an even more significant impact.
Trams on “Václavák”? The return is complicated by the “old order” and the subway ceiling
The names of the Husinecká and Lipanská stops, used for decades, will disappear from the traffic map. “The revitalization of the entire Seifertova street is estimated for 2024, when a complete reconstruction of the tram line is also planned,” added Vácha.
Žižkov City Hall had a different idea
According to the town hall newspaper, the management of Prague 3 expected a slightly different option. This would consist of leaving Lipanská in its place, moving Husinecká to Churchill Square and establishing a new intermediate stop Přibyslavská.
The surroundings of the Opatov station will be beautified, and the South Town will have its own square
“We addressed the benefits of both options. Either many people in lower Žižkov will be closer to the tram, or we will prefer that people from Vinohrady and Jarov will be in the center faster. For Prague 3, we would prefer the first option, but the city-wide interest in faster connections will probably win, “said Matěj Žaloudek, chairman of the Prague 3 Territorial Development Committee, for Radniční noviny. The opposition, on the other hand, is in favor of maintaining the status quo.
Stop closer to the main station
The advantage of the new Churchill Square stop is to be a better transfer from the tram to the backbone bus line 135, which has a stop in Italská Street. The tram will also build a closer underpass from the main railway station in Žižkov. In the past, there used to be a tram stop on the square.
This year’s main transport projects: metro D, bridge repairs and the inner ring road
In connection with the modernization of the tram line in lower Žižkov, IPR wants to transform Seifertova and Táboritská streets as a whole. The transformation is supposed to solve mainly three problematic bodies of this part of Žižkov. It is the junction of Seifertova and Chlumova streets, the staircase between Táboritská and Chelčického streets and the surroundings of the Bezovka shopping center near Olšanské náměstí.
