Repairs are being completed at the Prague State Opera in the coming days. The building is awaiting approval. It will open to the public on January 5, 2020, after almost three years of renovation. Visitors will have the opportunity to see the program with the subtitle State Opera in the changes of time (1888-2018).

The approval is scheduled to take place on Thursday, December 5. In the days, technology is already moving to the operating building of these. The official handover of the building to the National Theater should take place on Sunday 15 December. “The State Opera will reopen to the audience on January 5, 2020, ie after almost three years of reconstruction and exactly 132 years since its first opening,” said Tomáš Staněk, a spokesman for the National Theater.

The original cost estimate was 900 million crowns. the final price eventually rose to 1.3 billion crowns, including VAT, due to a change in the technology of the stage turntable and the reconstruction of air conditioning. According to Staňek, employees are currently preparing to move, with the first stage starting before Christmas and the second in January.

New armchairs with innovation in the form of built-in reading devices with a choice of subtitles will soon be installed in the auditorium. “The first tests in the new premises will take place at the end of this year. The new rehearsal rooms and a recording studio with great acoustics are a great attraction for artists, “said Staněk.

Videomapping on the highway

Visitors who visit the Prague State Opera on January 5 will see a program with the subtitle State Opera in the Changes of Time (1888-2018). The gala concert, directed by Alice Nellis, will take the audience through the history of four local opera ensembles. The concept of the evening was prepared by playwrights Jitka Slavíková and Ondřej Hučín. Under the baton of SO Music Director Karel-Heinz Steffens, solo operas of the National Theater, Czech and foreign guests, such as Lisa Davidsen, Pavel Černoch, Eva Urbanová and Kateřina Kněžíková, will perform. He will perform together with the Orchestra and the Choir of the State Opera. The gala evening will be performed by Pavel Kohout, who completed the locket last week.

For the ceremonial reopening of the State Opera, the 3dsence art group prepared an audiovisual show on the front facade of the theater building. To this end, passing vehicles will become the appropriate location for the theater building on the main road and the components of the video mapping. At the same time, rehearsals began for the productions presented by the National Theater next year – King Roger and the Master Singers of Nuremberg. The rehearsals are currently taking place in the operating building of the National Theater, but will soon be moved to new premises.
