Scientists’ forecast: The number of inhabitants in Prague 5 will increase significantly. Up to 19,000 more people can live here in a few years
The forecast presents three variants of development. With the lowest growth, the population increased by 12,000 in 2030, at middle about 15,000 AND at a high of 19,000 people. According to forecasts, the main influence on population growth will be the people who move to Prague 5 and the associated birth rate. As a result, the authors of the study expect that the number of people of working age between 20 and 64 will increase in the city district. However, only in absolute numbers, relative to the population, on the contrary, in 2050 a decrease of four percent of the body to less than 60 percent of the population is expected.
The increase in the number of people of working age should also affect the number of children. In 2030, the authors of the forecast expect an increase in the number of children and adolescents from 16,900 to 21,700, in 2050 to about 24,000, ie 35 percent more than at the end of 2018.
Will schools and kindergartens be missing?
This should affect the investment planning of the borough. “For example, when deciding on the capacity of preschool facilities in the Prague 5 district, it is important that in the whole period between 2019 and 2050 it is practically not possible to expect a decrease in the number of children aged 3-5 years below the initial value,The study said. In 2050, their number should increase from the current approximately 3,000 to 4,000. The number of school-age children is also expected to increase, the number should increase from 7,600 to more than 10,000 in 2050.
An increase in the number of seniors is expected, with an increase of more than half. It is true that the older the age, the faster the population will grow. While at the end of 2018, 5,500 seniors over the age of 75 lived in the city district, in 2050 it should be 12,000. Even so, the population of the city district should have a lower average age than the national average throughout the period. “Only during the 1940s will you reach the current value of the average age of the Czech population (42.5 years),” the study states.
The fifth city district has about 85,000 inhabitants and includes the cadastral areas of Hlubočepy, Košíře, Motol, Radlice, Smíchov and parts of Jinonice, Malá Strana and Břevnov. It belongs to the Prague city districts with large housing construction, the largest project in preparation is the new district of Smíchov City on the site of the former Smíchov freight station, where up to 3,300 people should find housing. Her status will be Sekyra Group, which plans to start the first part of next year.
According to the latest, the total population of Prague is numbers of the Czech Statistical Office about 1.32 million. The most populous part of the city is Prague 4 with more than 130,000 inhabitants.
