The previous management of Prague planned to build a parking terminal with a capacity of between 1,500 and 3,500 parking spaces directly above the intersection of Rozvadovská spojka and Řevnická streets. According to the mayor’s square for transport Adam Scheinherr (Prague Sobě), the new coalition agreed that the plan is oversized and will not continue.
However, they are preparing another project in Zličín, which will also contribute to the expansion of the P + R car park network.
A new station should be built at the existing metro depot, which would cost the city cheaply, because the tracks are already running there. The extension would serve to operate a new P + R car park, which would take the form of two multi-storey car parks.
According to the current proposal, the first would have a capacity of 600 and, after the planned expansion, 1,200 parking spaces, and the second would park 720 cars. The city wants to build a similar house in other places, such as the Depo Hostivař metro station on line A.
There are now a total of three thousand places in the P + R car parks
The new Prague councilor for the property of Jan Chabr (United Forces for Prague / TOP 09) also wants to start buying land for the construction of another P + R car park in the Dlouhá MILE locality in the western part of Prague near the Ruzyně airport. In the future, it should follow the planned train station in the direction of the airport.
The lack of P + R car parks is often a problem of Prague transport. They are intended primarily for non-Prague drivers who commute to the metropolis for work, the municipality wants to motivate them to leave the car on the outskirts of the city and continue public transport, thus improving the flow of traffic and parking in the center.
P + R parking lots are in more than a dozen places, especially near the station and metro station. Their capacity is three thousand cars.
