Post-election map of Prague: which parties rule the town halls and who are the new mayors
It has basically been decided who will lead the Prague municipality. The coalition consisted of pirates, the United Forces for Prague and Prague itself. However, it is far from the case that the Prague City Hall can control these documents.
On the other hand, the ODS won best in those. For a party that, despite winning the Prague municipal elections, will ultimately be in the opposition, the large representation in coalitions and six mayors is partial compensation.
“For all of us, the various post-election negotiations about something are always new, for myself, I am satisfied with the negotiations from the city districts, but I admit that there are areas that I regretted, but I will discuss that with them personally,” commented the head of the ODS at the town halls Prague ODS Tomáš Portlík.
Old strongholds of the ODS
In several city districts, the ODS is already a permanent fixture, and nothing is changing this time either. For the fourth season in a row, he rules on Prague 2 Jana Černochová and has been the mayor of Jana Jarolíma for twelve years Prague 9. Only David Vodrážka v Prague 13, who has been in office since 2002 and with this election period will already exceed a twenty-year era. Třináctka is a typical ODS stronghold, in this district it has won all elections since 1994.
On the other hand, the role of the opposition will not escape the civil democrats despite the victory Prague 3, where the current mayor Alexander Bella (ODS) will probably be replaced by Jiří Ptáček. However, the newly formed coalition of TOP 09 and STAN, pirates and greens is still discussing program points, and they want to officially announce the name of the mayor only after fine-tuning common priorities.
Members of the Pirate Party – Daniel Mazur na Prague 5 will replace the current mayor Pavel Richter from TOP 09, who will end up in the opposition, as the ODS and the ANO movement agreed on a coalition with the pirates.
On Prague 12 the pirates will be represented by Jan Adamec, whose party took the 12 Citizen Democrats into a coalition with TOP 09 a few days ago instead of the Change for Prague grouping.
After three mayors, he also has TOP 09, for example on Prague 14 Radek Vondra became the old mayor, and the district was successful together with the ODS and the pirates. Overall, TOP 09 is in ten coalitions from twenty-two numbered city districts.
To his brother Jan Čižinský (Prague himself) at Prague 7 with on Prague 1 added Pavel Čižinský from the same grouping, which relatively and temporarily managed to win and remove Oldřich Lomecký from the position of mayor (TOP 09). In the 25-member council, the new coalition of Prague 1 will have a majority of 15 votes for itself, the pirates, We, what we live here and Zelená pro 1.
The ANO movement has only one mayor in the big town halls, namely Milan Wenzl na Prague 15where the coalition was created by the ANO movement, ODS and TOP 09. In a smaller part Prague 18 ANO still has a new mayor, Zdeňko Kučera, in Letňany a coalition of ODS and Svobodných, ANO, ODA, TOP 09 and one independent representative was formed.
Where it wasn’t clear for a long time and somewhere it still isn’t
Complications in negotiations were on Prague 8. Originally, a coalition of Osmička lives together with pirates and TOP 09 was supposed to be formed there, but TOP 09 subsequently posted a statement on Facebook that this coalition definitely did not meet their expectations, and the negotiations stopped.
In the end, the bloc ODS, TOP 09 and STAN formed a coalition with the Patriots for Prague 8, who, however, have only 18 mandates. However, we do not use the new coalition after the complex post-election negotiations of the ANO representative’s eight-vote movement in the management of the district. Ondřej Gros from ODS became the mayor.
The stalemate still prevails even on Prague 11, negotiations there are complicated by the long-term strained relations between groups that have reached the council. The Movement for Prague 11 offered cooperation to the pirates, but together they only had 22 mandates in the forty-five-member council. Last week, they therefore requested cooperation with the ANO movement, which, however, pledged to cooperate with TOP 09-STAN and ODS. They agreed on a joint meeting, but the results of the meeting are not yet known.
Last week, even the result of the small council in Horní Počernice – Prague 20 was not clear. On Monday evening, the victorious Počernice Citizens’ Movement, Together for Počernice and ANO reached an agreement with the Počernice Jinak group, which added two more mandates to the coalition. Former mayor Hana Moravcová (Sance pro Počernice) will be replaced by Alena Šrobová (Citizens’ Movement for Počernice).
In total, the mayors changed to five deputies out of fifteen among the new mayors are big pirates, but also Renata Chmelová, who was not only election candidates, coalition candidates for Prague 10. Two mayors changed in the small councils, the already mentioned Prague 18 has a new mayor Zdenek Kučera (ANO) and Újezd nad Lesy – Prague 21 -Milana Samce (ODS), who replaced Karla Jacob Čechová (TOP 09).
