SF100/Finland Finland 100 Singapore is a campaign in honor of Finland’s 100th anniversary as an independent nation. Events around the world are organized by Finnish embassies, Finns living abroad, Finnish companies and local partners.
The goal of SF100SG is to strengthen ties between Singapore and Finland in business life, investments, education, tourism and culture. Ambassador Paula Parviainen presented the key themes around which the SF100SG program is designed: healthcare and well-being, education, innovation and design, themes relevant to both Singaporeans and Finns.
SF100 recognizes the effects of an aging population, the importance of technology and digitization in Singaporeans’ daily lives, and investment opportunities in Singapore’s start-up culture, so SF100 aims to address these issues and strengthen synergy between the two countries.
“We are excited to follow in Singapore’s footsteps after the huge SG50 celebrations last year. In 2017, Finland celebrates a century of independence and continued democracy, and the Singapore program aims to strengthen ties between Singaporeans and Finns in business life, investments, tourism and culture,” said Finland’s ambassador to Singapore, Paula Parviainen.
“It will be a year when “Arctic meets Tropic” in many ways. We see many similarities between our countries, especially the size of the population, rapidly aging population, excellence in education and design for everything – both Helsinki and Singapore are recognized UNESCO cities of design – and we hope that SF100 will provide a successful platform for cooperation on our core themes and event calendar.”
