Prague versus the rest of the republic. Why Czechs are forever convicted after the election – HlídacíPes.org
The parliamentary elections have shown that Prague residents want to continue in the liberal democratic spirit of the organization of society, citizens of other regions need change. In the Czech Republic, there may in fact be two companies, Prague and outside Prague, which is also indicated by statistical data.
The October elections this year were won by parties and movements that reject the post-November development of Czech society and demand a change in the political system. An identical election result was recorded by all Czech regions, with one acquaintance being the capital city of Prague.
The Communist Party of Bohemia and Moravia in Prague was even below the 5% threshold required to enter the Chamber of Deputies, and Tomia Okamura’s Freedom and Direct Democracy only surpassed it in Prague. The parties that support the continuity of the post-November development thus overwhelmingly won over the “national” winners of the parliamentary elections in Prague.
At least in something like the Germans
Prague has the sixth highest gross domestic product per capita in comparison with individual regions of the European Union. It is about 180% of the regions of the EU countries and its GDP is equal to that in the area around Munich, Bavaria.
Czech regions outside Prague are around 75% assistance from EU regions, and are thus comparable to, for example, the richest Bulgarian region, the regions of Estonia, Lithuania and Portugal. The Ústí nad Labem and Karlovy Vary regions are even worse off. Prague’s gross domestic product per capita is thus more than double compared to regions outside Prague.
However, it is necessary to state that the position of Prague can be influenced by people who commute to work for work. Bratislava statistics). According to statistical data, the wealth of Prague is thus higher than it actually is, while it is underestimated in the region around the capitals.
Similarly, wages in Prague are more than 40% higher than in regions outside Prague. However, this is not because Prague employers are more generous. This difference is half due to the education and professional composition of the Prague workforce and half due to the higher price level in Prague.
Why are the Praguers hey?
The worker is in Prague earns realistically the same, as a worker earned in the rest of the country in earned time, more educated workers are concentrated in the capital, they perform better paid professions.
As a result of higher incomes, more Prague women can afford to take care of the household only, while in regions outside Prague there are more women who are fully employed if they have to take care of the household and family.
In regions outside Prague, women also return to work much earlier from maternity and parental leave.
As a result, Praguers also have an incomparably higher level of education than the inhabitants of regions outside Prague. The share of university, college and college graduates in the total population will reach almost forty percent.
This share is three times higher than the share of university students in the Karlovy Vary and Ústí nad Labem regions, and about twice as high as in other regions.
Not us, the others
The rise in the standard of living of the inhabitants of non-Prague regions after 1989, which is indisputable, probably did not meet the expectations that prevailed after the fall of the Iron Curtain.
For this group of people, maintaining the status quo is not attractive because they have nothing to gain from it. Far more attractive to them are concepts that offer change in the short term.
In contrast, after 1989, Praguers are extremely successful, and therefore they are not interested in a fundamental change.
Moreover, the differences between Prague and the rest of the country do not seem to be narrowing. Probably in the future we will expect voters outside Prague to shake their heads in disbelief at the election results in Prague, and Praguers will express dissatisfaction with the government that voters have established for them from elsewhere.
