Peikko delivers cage stone foundations to the Karaka wind farm
Peikko has received a significant order for the delivery of rock foundation technology for the Karahka wind farm project in Northern Ostrobothnia.
The Karahka wind farm is located 100 km southwest of Oulu, in the town of Oulaiten. Peikko supplies the steel components for the 25 foundations of the wind farm. Deliveries include FatBar® rock anchor sets and PSB® puncture reinforcement systems. Peikko is also responsible for foundation design and structural calculations. Deliveries are planned to take place between April and October 2023. The wind farm is estimated to be in use by the end of 2024.
The developer of the wind park is VSB Uusiutuva Energia Suomi Oy and the current owners of the park are Helen Oy and the Bank of Ålands. NYAB is the main contractor for earthworks and infrastructure, which consists of earthworks, internal network works of the wind farm and the construction of the substation, main transformers and 110 kV power line. They also perform technical assembly of steel components and foundation casting. Nordex will supply 25 N163/5X 5.9 MW turbines with a pole height of 168 meters.
“We at Peikko are proud to be the chosen supplier for this significant wind power project in Finland. Our solutions are reliable, safe and time-saving, and we can also offer our customers significant cost savings in the materials used. Being a part of green energy production supports our goals for more sustainable planning and construction,” says Topi Paananen, CEO of Peikko Group Oyj.
