Toulouse. The Bears in the starting blocks
Only a few weeks left before the resumption of D1 for the Toulouse whose objective is to confirm after a good first year in the elite.
Last year, the Bears had one goal: to prove that they were not in the elite by chance. After going on the green carpet, their presence had to be “justified” on the field and it was chosen with a good season crowned by a place in the play-off.
“It was unexpected yes, but the players and the whole club were carried away by a good dynamic”, explains the president Arnaud Montgénie. “On several points this rise was beneficial allowing us to attract new players more easily and exploding the number of licensees”, is satisfied the leader who now has two goals set: “Stay there and confirm”. For this, and while waiting for the resumption scheduled for the weekend of February 11, the Bears have been preparing diligently for this kickoff of the 2023 season since last September.
A transition to ensure
“First there were the combines (training and recruitment camps, editor’s note) then the work concerning the athletic part and finally for a few weeks, the setting up of the game book”, reveals the very young retiree from the lands. “We are still planning a camp in order to integrate the new ones and to assimilate the tactics a little more the week of January 28 and it will be good then”, launches the president now at 100%.
Gatherings necessary to ensure the best transition between the players and on the bench where Rudy Fonkoué left his place of the head coach to Stéphane Murat, after 9 years at the club. “A natural and logical transition”, for Arnaud Montgénie satisfied with the recruitment carried out with, as always, the objective of finding “heavy and athletic profiles”.
The recent signings of two American “imports” being there in particular to fill it with running back Nemieceo Loureiro and quarterback Tony Brown III. Solid and experimental, everything the Bears need to confirm.
