Aranha Toulouse returns with two European titles
The Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu European Championships have just ended in Paris. The Toulouse club won two European titles and a silver medal.
It was with no less than ten athletes that the Toulouse residents of the Aranha association presented themselves at the IBJJF European Championships, the third most important Brazilian jiu-jitsu competition in the world, which took place in Paris, at the Maison du judo.
Backed by its regular performances on the national scene (4 national titles and 12 podiums at the last French championships), and the experience of its coaches on the international scene (several European titles already won over the previous 15 years), the “Spiders” have lived up to the expectations placed in them.
Indeed, Olivier Ok and Thomas Perrin have fulfilled their coaches’ expectations by winning the titles of champion in their respective “Master Novice” and “Brown” categories. They needed an impeccable will and a refined technique in the service of a particularly adapted strategy to overcome their adversaries.
Valérie de Matos, champion of France 2022, lost in the final, after a hard fight against an opponent whom she hopes to find shortly to balance the accounts.
The other athletes of the Toulouse team were unable to overcome the obstacles that encumber the road to the podium, but none of them was undeserved, and Toulouse even came close to winning. proud of one or two other European medalists.
Back in Saouzelong in the club’s lair, the competitors from Aranha Toulouse will have new experiences to share with their mat mates, who won’t hesitate to shower their new European champions.
