The weather played out on Wednesday evening, not even the highway was spared
/PHOTO/ Intense snowfall, sometimes accompanied by thunder, complicated traffic in a significant part of central Bohemia on the evening of Wednesday, February 1. The weather also kept Central Bohemian firefighters busy in time, who were called out to remove dozens of fallen trees; at first mostly in Mladoboleslavsk and in the Mělník district.

But trees fell on the road and elsewhere. For example, in Prague-west near the town of Libčice nad Vltavou, where a car drove into it before eight in the evening. A similar accident happened a little later in the Kutnohorsk district near Čáslav: on road II/339 near the village of Močovice. Fortunately, both escaped without injury. On the D5 highway, a fallen tree restricted the passage from Prague to Beroun near Vráž.
In drone footage, police officers show drivers their mistakes. No penalty
Several evening accidents in various corners of central Bohemia were apparently related to the weather, when drivers did not keep their cars on the road. They didn’t just drive into ditches, such as a car on road II/101 near Říčan in Prague-East: near Benešov, a truck stopped against a lamppost on road I/3, and a car hit a plot of land in the village of Pchery in Kladensk.
However, traffic complications did not escape even the main roads. Trucks heading from Prague towards Brno after exit 15 at the Strančice level were stuck on the D1 highway in Prague-East for the eighth time in the evening. It was not without a column, although the place remained passable in the right lane. In the same direction of travel, a truck and a passenger car collided in the snow on the 58th kilometer of the highway. Trucks also had problems on the snowy road of the D1 highway in the vicinity of the Švihov dam in Želivce, in the direction of travel to Prague. The stuck truck further blocked passage along the old Benešovská (II/603) near Kamenice in Prague-East. On the backbone north-south route I/3, the trucks were left standing in the Votic hill.
The buses had problems
Due to impassable roads, some evening buses did not run. For example, in the Vlašim region or near Nová Ves pod Pleší. A fallen tree again blocked a bus on the connection between Příbramsko and Prague.
But the weather did not cause problems only in transport. Jaroslav Markovics from Slánsk complained to Deník about the damage suffered. Around seven in the evening, a huge blow alerted him to the fact that something bad was happening: a 25-meter tree fell into his garden. Result? The gate and the fence are destroyed. “When I applied for a slaughter permit years ago, on the environment [míněn odbor městského úřadu] in Slané they told me that I must not cut it down; that there are bugs in it,” he laments. “So let them be happy now, ‘bugs’ from the environment in Slané,” they do not hide their determination to solve the matter further now.
