Otík’s footbridge is awaiting reconstruction | PRAGUE 11 | News
The so-called Otík footbridge at Hájy will be renovated this year. The reason is its poor technical condition.
“The footbridge has been in a state of disrepair for a long time, it is from 1990, we have all the money for it, project documentation, everything, so we are starting, we can start the reconstruction. The reconstruction will cost about 36 million, I don’t know exactly now, I think 36 million. it will last over 190 days, we will start in March, it will last until September,” said Libor Vrkoč (Movement for Prague 11), councilor of the Municipal Council of Prague 11.
The reconstruction of the footbridge can be done without restrictions. Hundreds of pedestrians cross it every day, so they will be able to use it, with participation from several days, even during the repairs.
“There shouldn’t be any restrictions, detours will of course be properly marked, the footbridge will be closed for a maximum of 7 days, that’s actually a week. The only thing that will happen is that the boarding station will be moved a little further due to the background of the construction and so on,” he said Libor Vrkoč (Movement for Prague 11), Councilor of Municipal Council of Prague 11.
The reconstruction will be focused primarily on the placement of the footbridge, pillars, drainage, railings and surface.
“We are not yet clear about the color, because we don’t want to keep this original orange color. Maybe there will be a poll about it somewhere on Facebook and so on. We want to involve the local residents a little bit, so we want to show it to people, we don’t want to be directive here, to make it green or blue, we want to get the people involved a little,” said Libor Vrkoč (Movement for Prague 11), councilor of the Municipal Council of Prague 11.
Repairs to Otík’s bridge will begin in March.
