Negotiations on the leadership of Prague have progressed. The new mayor could be in place in mid-February
Prague is one step closer to new management. Together for Prague, Pirates and STAN they are fine-tuning the last details of the coalition agreement. They want to approve this by the next meeting in mid-February. The current mayor Zdenek Hřiba (Pirates), who should be in charge of transport in the metropolis, will probably be replaced by Bohuslav Svoboda (ODS) from the SPOLU coalition.
The four-month negotiations about the new leadership of Prague started after the Pirates gave the ball to a partner, which was Jan Čižínský’s Praha Soba party. In the capital, a coalition is formed on government ground, specifically, it is a weekend.
The parties have already agreed on the composition of the new council, the TOGETHER coalition should get five seats. Of these, ODS and TOP 09 would each have two seats, and one would go to the People’s Party. The Pirates should occupy seat four. The architect Petr Hlaváček should once again sit on the council for the STAN movement, and he should again be in charge of territorial development, the Mayors and independents are also expected to fill the posts for education and sports.
The pirates are to receive councilor seats for legislation, the environment, property and transport, the last of which should be occupied by Zdeněk Hřib. The current mayor of Prague 2, Alexandra Udženija (ODS), Jiří Pospíšil or (TOP 09), who will be in charge of culture, could sit on the council for the coalition TOGETHER.
The coalition agreement must still be approved by the Pirates regional forum. If he consecrates it, the new mayor and council members will be elected at the next meeting of the Prague council on February 16.
