The roots of religion and identity win at the Trieste Fil Festival
“Sonne”, by the Kurdish director who grew up in Vienna Kurdwin Ayub, received the Trieste Award assigned by the jury to the best feature film in competition at the Trieste Film Festival, “for having investigated without dogmas – explains the motivation – and using the language of presents the still unresolved questions of roots, religion and identity of the new generations daughters of migratory flows, through the eyes of three young women in search of their place in the world”.
In one week, the festival brought over a thousand international guests from 37 countries and a number of students from film academies to the city.
Among the other awards assigned, the Alpe Adria Cinema Award for best documentary went to “Scenes with my father” by Biserka Šuran, the Tsff Shorts Award to the short film “Plima” by Eva Vidan.
But the films were also judged by the public, who with their vote chose “Black stone” by Spiros Jacovides as best feature film, “The Hamlet syndrome” by Elwira Newiera and Piotr Rosolowski as best documentary and ex aequo as best short film ” Not Tomorrow” by Amerissa Basta and “Sheets” by Evi Gjoni.
