This got him into trouble in the outside game, but then Tien missed two break points. After changing sides, the American got his way and changed to 3: 2, including a Pole who spoiled several balls. Tien served better than the Pole because he had eight aces and never received a serve. In addition, he recorded 15 winning strokes and only 13 mistakes. The men played 121 points, of which 69 were scored by the American.

Tien became the 12th American to complete the junior Australian Open final. In the last decade, this has been done by Stefan Kozlov (2014), Sebastian Korda (2018), Emilio Nava (2019) and Bruno Kuzuhara (2022). If you become the boys’ singles champion, you will finish as the seventh U.S. representative. His opponent in the match for the title will be the highest numbered Belgian Alexander Blockx, who defeated the Chinese Yi Zhou 6-4, 6-1 in the semi-final.
