Russia increased exports in January
The Russian Grain Union announced the monitoring of data on wheat exports in Russia. According to the correspondent “KazakhGrain.kz”, in the first three weeks of January (until January 22) 2.47 million tons of wheat were shipped for export, which is approximately twice the volume for the same period last year.
In total, Russian exporters delivered 2.8 million tons of grain to foreign buyers, which is 70% more in annual terms. One of the main trends is an increase in the share of wheat in the export nomenclature from 75% (a year ago) to 88% at the beginning of 2023.
According to the results of January, the RGU forecasts wheat exports at the level of 3.5 million tons, which is twice as much as in January 2022.
Among the countries that make up the bulk of Russian grain imports is Egypt, whose purchases in January increased by 92% to 638 thousand tons. tons, Turkey, the volume of dimensions increased by 88% and increased to 406 thousand tons. tons. Purchases of Algeria (121 thousand tons) increased 4 times depending on the previous year.
It is also indicative that the main shipments of grain were carried out through the southern sea gates of Russia: over 1.1 million tons were shipped through the port of Novorossiysk (+56% compared to January 2022). In total transshipment was carried out from 11 Russian ports.
