The town hall deprograms a reading workshop for children led by drag queens
The mayor of Toulouse Jean-Luc Moudenc decided, “for the sake of appeasement, of “redirect” the reading workshop at the Cabanis Media Library for children aged 3 to 6, on Saturday February 18, hosted by two drag queens Brandy Snap and Shanna Banana to to “welcome only a major public”. Another event was scheduled for Saturday February 4 at the MJC Roguet.
The decision taken on Tuesday comes after the publication of a petition against these readings for young people introduced by the identity group Furie Française. The petition received nearly 5,000 signatures before being deleted. On social networks, reactions like “ignominy”, “leftist pedophiles”, “errors of nature” or “depravity” are particularly violent.
The mayor calls for the dissolution of “Furie Française”
In a press release, the town hall of Toulouse justifies its choice: “This choice of programming – which did not give rise to any visa or endorsement from elected officials – can destabilize part of the public. This is obviously not the will of the Community“, explains the town hall.
However, the mayor of Toulouse”condemned condemned any form of extremism, threat or discriminatory expression towards Shanna Banana and Brandy Snap”. Jean-Luc Moudenc also indicates that he “will also ask Gérald Darmanin, Minister of the Interior, the dissolution of the “Furie Française” movement, at the origin of the threats and the disturbance of public order”.
