“House of horror” in Pas-de-Calais: a couple tried for abuse of eight of their ten children
The trial of a couple suspected of abusing their eight children in Noyelles-sous-Lens (Pas-de-Calais) begins this Tuesday, January 24. Both had been denounced by one of their 24-year-old sons.
Tied up children bathing in their excrement, fights, beatings… A couple accused of ill-treatment of eight of their ten children is on trial this Tuesday, January 24 before the Béthune criminal court.
The father and mother, aged 44 and 40, will appear free, from 1:30 p.m., before the Béthune criminal court, for “violence by ascendant” on minors under 15, without ITT (total incapacity for work), and “removal by a parent from his legal obligations”. Both incurring up to five years in prison and a fine of 75,000 euros.
Two children tied up
The facts date back to August 30, when the gendarmes of the town of Noyelles-sous-Lens, in Pas-de-Calais, went to the home of a couple following a report. On the spot, the latter make a sordid discovery: two children aged 2 and 5 are tied to their chair, covered with excrement, and are visibly victims of abuse and violence on the part of their parents. The 2-year-old has serious motor and speech problems. He would never have been knocked down.
It is the eldest of the family (24 years old) who went to the police station to denounce the actions of his parents. He had come to file a complaint because he had just been kicked out by his father, according to News Pas-de-Calais. When they arrived at the family home on August 30, the police found facts that were hard to believe. Older children recount having lived a childhood of spanking, binding and deprivation of liberty.
They wanted to “prevent children from doing stupid things”
The parents are described by their neighbors in Noyelles-sous-Lens as very discreet. They have friends, but not in their assertive neighborhood BFM-TV. To our colleagues, a former friend of one of the children explains that one of them went to primary school with him. “He was going to class, he looked normal,” he recalls
Immediately arrested, the two parents were quick to recognize the facts in police custody. According to our colleagues from Pas-de-Calais, the couple received nearly 2,700 euros in social assistance per month while the father worked “under the table” as a mechanic and the mother was unemployed. They explained that they wanted to “prevent the children from committing nonsense”, reports The future of Artois. According to The voice of the Norththe children were cared for and placed in foster homes.
