Siena: new AED station inaugurated, cardioprotected San Miniato
Yesterday, Sunday morning, 22 January 2023 at 10 a new DAE station was inaugurated in San Miniato c/o La Meridiana in via Pietro Nenni n.8. The device is in memory of the citizen Francesco Muzzi and was donated by the family through the Siena Cuore ODV Association in collaboration with the “Siena Committee 2 active citizens and associations for the common goods ODV”.
The inauguration was attended by the President of Siena Cuore ODV Juri Gorelli, the President of the “Committee Siena 2 active citizens and associations for the common goods ODV” Roberto Beligni, the family members of Francesco Muzzi, the provincial Coordinator of the Consulta del Volontariato della Civil Protection Ezio Sabatini, the councilor of the National Association of Mutilated Service Martino Machetti and a representation of the Carabinieri.
Massimo Muzzi: “For us family members it was an exciting moment and we want to thank the Siena Cuore Association, the Siena 2 Active Citizens Committee and associations for the common goods ODV and the Municipal Administration which allowed us to place the machine at the disposal of all citizens”.
Juri Gorelli, President of the Siena Cuore Odv Association: “We are satisfied with the inauguration of this first DAE station with the 2023 license plate, in honor of Francesco Muzzi, father of two of our volunteers. A great emotion to dedicate the station in honor of him. This emplacement is a further point of reference for this area of the city which was the discovery left of a narrative device for everyone’s safety. Our heartfelt thanks go to the Committee that supported and helped the Association in this operation. The collaboration will go ahead in a network perspective between all the subjects in the area with training courses in the use of defibrillators which will soon leave for citizenship”.
Roberto Beligni, President of the Siena 2 Active Citizens Committee and Associations for the Common Goods ODV: “We thank the Siena Cuore ODV Association for involving us in this operation. It is a particularly meritorious initiative and a commendable gesture by the family in memory of Francesco and towards the whole community. We hope that other initiatives will arise from this involving all citizens in ad hoc training on the use of defibrillators. The district has been enriched with an important garrison, contributing to an increasingly ‘cardioprotected’ city. This initiative helps us to relaunch this particularly important and significant capillarity and service project”.
Ezio Sabatini, Provincial Coordinator of the Civil Protection Volunteer Consultation: “It is important that in our concept of city the presence of tools of this type enters, which must network with the social fabric and with the road fabric to preside over the territory. We need a vision of a resilient and intelligent city and tools like DAE can allow us to be safer in our daily lives, for ourselves and for our loved ones. A round of applause to Francesco Muzzi’s family, to Siena Cuore ODV, to the Siena 2 Committee and to the Municipal Administration which has implemented this further piece of a larger plan which we hope will soon be able to see complete”.
The Siena Cuore ODV Association, in agreement with the Municipal Administration, takes charge of the maintenance costs (replacement of batteries and expiring plates) of the periodic checks (passage and control of the AEDs every 60 days) specifying that in the AED models installed on the specific indication of the manufacturer, no annual maintenance must be carried out.
