air quality deemed poor on Tuesday
Atmo Hauts-de-France estimates that the air quality will be poor over almost all of Hauts-de-France on Tuesday, with the exception of the south-east of the region.
Watch out for fine particles. The Hauts-de-France are victims of poor air quality at the start of the week, due to weather conditions “not conducive to the good dispersion of pollutants”, in particular fine particles, indicates the observatory of air quality Atmo Hauts de France.
This Monday, the air quality index was “degraded” over a major part of the northwestern half of Hauts-de-France. The index was even considered “bad” in the Lille region and in the Arras sector, due to a concentration of fine particles PM2.5 and PM10.
Almost the entire region affected on Tuesday
The situation is expected to deteriorate further on Tuesday, with air quality deemed poor over the entire Nord and Pas-de-Calais, particularly in Lille and Arras. The index will be “bad” in Calais and Dunkirk, where the air quality was only considered “degraded” on Monday.
The entire Somme department is also affected by this “bad” index for Tuesday. In the south-east of the region, the air quality will mostly be considered “average” on Tuesday, with the exception of the north-west of the Aisne department, where the air quality will be poor.
During episodes of fine particle pollution, Atmo Hauts-de-France advises residents to limit intense physical activity. The observatory also recommends avoiding actions that could aggravate the effects of pollution for the most vulnerable people (such as smoking).
Even in the event of an episode of pollution, it is recommended to ventilate its interior for ten to fifteen minutes, twice a day.
