Index – Sport – Fradi won the women’s handball BL in Brest
Anett Kisfaludy, Anett Kovács, Béatrice Edwige and Katrin Klujber were missing from the Hungarian team, but there was Anikó Cirjenics-Kovacsics, who last played at the Tokyo Olympics, then paused her career due to shoulder surgery and the birth of her child.
Although FTC started well (4–1), Brest led by two goals (8–6) at the quarter of the match. At that point, head coach Gábor Elek asked for a time-out, thereby breaking the momentum of the French for a while, but in the continuation, based on the saves of Julie Foggea and the guidance of Djurdjina Jaukovic, the host continued to increase their advantage. In just 27 minutes, Ferencváros managed ten bad shots, and in the last ten minutes of the first half, they found the net only once.
The French led 14-10 at the break, and Foggea started the second period with a great goal, so the Hungarians still missed opportunities. At three quarters of the match, however, the difference was again only two goals, but the sadly attacking Brest went away again with a 3-0 streak. The picture of the game did not change in the first half, so FTC had no chance to score points.
The most successful player of the guests was Emily Bölk with four goals, Blanka Bíró made 11 saves. On the other side, Djurdjina Jaukovic had seven goals, Coralie Lassource and Monika Kobilinszka had four goals each, and Julie Foggea finished with 16 saves. In the fourth match between the two teams, in addition to a success in Ferencváros, Brest won for the third time.
FTC, which has five wins, one draw and six losses, will host Melinda Szikora’s team, German Bietigheim in Érd on February 4, and Győri Audi ETO KC, which has nine wins and three losses, will visit the Turkish Kastamonu Belediyesi GSka at home the next day.
