In 2022, Russia became the leader in the number of repeated DDoS attacks, analysts at cybersecurity solutions company StormWall said. In total, 1.2 million DDoS attacks were committed in Russia in 2022.
Russia accounted for 8.4% of all European DDoS attacks – such a high rate was recorded by penetration. In the list of the most DDoS-attacked countries, Russia took fourth place – the leaders discovered the capture of China and India.
Most of the attacks were committed in the financial sector (28%, an increase of 18 times over the year), telecommunications (14%, an increase of 12 times), the public sector (14%, an increase of 25 times), retail (12%, an increase of 25 times). once). 8 times).
The duration of DDoS attacks committed in 2022 has doubled – if in 2021 they lasted an average of four hours, then in 2022 attacks took place within eight hours.
Previously, analysts predicted an increase in the number of DDoS attacks by 300% by the spring of 2023. Hackers use more sophisticated tools as well as attacks on web applications.
