Princess Märtha Louise is mentioned by The New York Times
It has been a troubled time in the European royal houses in recent years. In Great Britain it is a full hurricane Prince Harry’s (38) Netflix and book rebellionwhile it has almost been an earthquake in Denmark by Queen Margrethe (82) and Prince Joachim’s (53) title conflict.

In Norway, it is Princess Märtha Louise (51) and fiance Durek Verrett (48) who have been in the spotlight – and the heart of the matter has probably been well understood by everyone.
Furthermore, the Atlantic Ocean cannot possibly be particularly soundproof, as even the Americans have brought them with them loud discussions around Märtha and Durek.
The princess couple graces perhaps America’s most prestigious newspaper.
Not just British conflict
Princess Märtha Louise was recently mentioned in a That New York Times-article on «chaotic monarchies».
The various royal houses that are mentioned are actually not ranked, but it is Märtha and Durek that can be seen in the main picture and at the top of the article’s list.
Puts the wedding on hold
«But Britain does not have a monopoly on royal laundry. As you can see, it is four other chaotic monarchies that have also engaged in dysfunction, disorder and their own loud drama”, writes the journalist.
Then begins a long section about Princess Märtha and Durek Verrett.
The newspaper writes that the autumn announcement about Märthas resignation from royal dutiesis because she has to «focus on her alternative medicine business with her fiance Durek Verrett, a celebrity shaman with clients such as Selma Blair and Nina Dobrev».
According to the New York Times, the incident was the latest in “a series of controversies from the princess’s relationship with Mr. Verrett, who in his book from 2019 believed that cancer is a choice”, it continues.
The newspaper mentions then Durek’s Controversial Locketas well as Märtha’s alleged ability to communicate with animals and angels.
Se og Hør has not succeeded in getting a comment from Princess Märtha Louise’s manager, head of communications at the castle Guri Varpe or Durek Verrett.
After the scandal: Well, the royal house «responds»
– Be wrong
Se og Hør’s royal house expert Caroline Vagle believes that such negative publicity puts the Norwegian royal house in an unfairly bad light. She does not hide the fact that Americans do not necessarily understand what the monarchy does.
– As King Harald has said, the Americans “don’t understand the weight” of the monarchy. They simply have no relation to what a monarchical dividend is and how it works. They probably look at it more with Disney glasses, yes, as something adventurous and exciting, she says.
However, Vagle does not agree with the way in which the major newspapers portray the conflict around Märtha.
– I have to say that I think The New York Times is wrong when they call the Norwegian royal house chaotic or ruling. In my eyes, a way of discussing Märtha and Durek shows the opposite, she says, and continues:
– They sat down together, spent a lot of time and let everyone have their opinions. All this within the fire walls of the castle. They came up with a solution everyone could live with, and according to them themselves, family ties have strengthened. It must be far more orderly than what we see, for example, in Great Britain, where the disagreements have become a public laundry.

Despite the fact that the drama unfolds in different royal houses, there are a number of similarities between the various conflicts. Both in Great Britain, Denmark and Norway, it is not the heir – but those who do not inherit the throne – who have been at the center of the storms.
Prince Harry’s fight against the British royal house has been going on for quite some time, but peaked when he recently published the very revealing autobiography «Spare».
Afterwards, he participated in several interviews, and in one of them, the Norwegian royal house dratt inn as an example.
It was during a conversation about racism that Prince Harry praised the Norwegian royal family for being among the first to publicly distance themselves from racism, after a storm around Durek Verrett.
– I congratulate them enormously on that. And I don’t think they’ve gotten enough credit for what they’ve done. But it’s big. And it requires more of it, said the prince.
