Capitani: “Isola d’Arbia, an area redeveloped thanks to this administration”
“The Isola d’Arbia area has been redeveloped thanks to this administrationwe cannot enter into the choices made by a private multinational, for whichwithin the regulatory limits and competences of the Municipality of Siena, the conditions have been created for investment in the area, as has happened for many other realities in full view of all”.
Like this the councilor for urban planning of the Municipality of Siena Michele Capitani takes stock of the situation regarding the settlement in the industrial area of Isola d’Arbia. “The operational plan – adds Capitani – approved by the city council thanks to the work of my predecessor Francesco michelotti and the municipal offices is an administrative tool capable of attracting investments in the city and also in this case we have a zero-cost redevelopment for the community”.
“The artisanal-industrial area of the Isola d’Arbia – he explains – is understood as an urbanized area, where therefore the urbanization works (roads, sidewalks, green areas, public lighting and the network of all other utilities) have already been built, by those who have parceled out the area in the past and, therefore, not now. The intervention performed by Amazon was to recover and redevelop a pre-existing building, includingto the internal area. When the building is entrusted to third parties, we will also have the desired effects from an employment point of view. The administration will continue its monitoring and dialogue activity: while not being able to enter directly into the choices of a multinational, it will ensure the protection of the community, understood as employment implications and respect for the territory”.
“The intervention – comments Capitani – consisted in the complete demolition and reconstruction (with the same volume) of the pre-existing building and in the rearrangement of the pertinent area, with new fences, lighting and new parking lots, all serving the new and future business. Sti the building That Iexternal area were in a condition of total abandonment, with no possibility of control and beyond fifteen years. A situation such as to generate a very serious environmental degradation, with the danger of partial collapse of the structure, which was becoming increasingly precarious and dilapidated: over time, waste materials and dirt in general accumulated, with the concrete risk of compromising the safety and health of the operators and citizens of the area. It was rightly a real clean-up operation at no cost for the Municipality and the community. The building intervention did not involve the construction of public works already present in the area, but the release of the pHermit of cobstruction was the subject of the payment of urbanization charges for a total amount of around 250 thousand euros”.
“Finally, I would like to underline – concludes Capitani – that in the year 2022 the Municipality’s coffers included urbanization costs of approximately 2 million and 650 thousand euros, destinedAnd the construction of public works in general (including works for the removal of architectural barriers) and/or their maintenance and improvement”.
