The Toulouse Academy announces 42 fewer positions in the 1st degree, 75 more in the second
Among the sectors most mobilized against the pension reform This Thursday, there will undoubtedly be national education. 70% of teachers are declared strikers in schools
, provide for the 1st primary school union at the national level. the first degree or there will be fewer teaching posts at the start of the school year 2023 at the Toulouse Academy.
The rector of the academy applies his traditional press conference at the start of the year on Tuesday morning. A number to remember: it is 42 posts less therefore in the 1st degree (i.e. full-time equivalents) because of the drop in the number of students. But these fewer positions will make it possible to meet an increasing need in secondary education.
The rectorate announces 75 more full-time teaching equivalents in secondary education at the start of the next school year to support the 1,274 additional students expected in the colleges and high schools of the academy. The increase in pupils is even higher in Haute-Garonne and Toulouse.
A threatened supervision rate?
This reorganization will make it possible to continue to ensure quality education, assures the rector Mostafa Fourar. “I can assure you that the supervision rate, that is to say the number of students per class, will not deteriorate quite simply because, mechanically, because of the drop in numbers, we have gained in rate coaching compared to last year.”
A drop in numbers in the 1st degree which is explained by 2,099 fewer students at the start of the school year. A drop in staff which also concerns the eight departments of the academy. However, despite this reorganization, the rector still assures us, the quality of education will be there. The teacher-student ratio practically does not move elsewhere in the 1st degree despite the 42 fewer posts.
One more hour of maths-French in 6th grade
The next return to school will also be marked by an additional hour of French or maths per week in 6th grade instead of technology. Because the ministry has made the observation that the level in mathematics and French of certain pupils is too low at the entrance to college. It is therefore one of the priorities to come in the Toulouse academy and for the rector Mostafa Fourar.
“A certain number of our students arriving at college without mastering basic knowledge. Around 20%. And you are also concerned about continuity between school and college. We are also going to work on this continuity so as to ensure that each student who arrives at college with difficulties can overcome them because if they do not settle over time and it becomes more and more difficult thereafter, so it is a source of stalling.”
Dating jobs for teacher recruiters
The teaching of this hour of French or math will be provided by technology teachers or 1st degree teachers. The rectorate will also launch “recruitment Wednesdays”every Wednesday in all the departments of the academy, to prevent the lack of candidates for the entrance examination as was the case this year.
