137 Vehicles Confiscated By Transport Malta Since The Beginning Of The Year
Enforcement on le-scooters has increased since the beginning of the year, with Transport Malta confiscating 137 of these vehicles from the roads.
Transport Malta was only given the authority to enforce the e-scooter rules in January, a task previously entrusted only to the police and LESA officers.
The transport authority said that it has carried out several enforcement operations around Malta during the last few weeks, with special attention to localities such as San Điljan, Tas-Sliema, San Paul il-Baħar and l’Gzira where there is heavy use. of e-scooters.
The 137 vehicles were confiscated for various reasons, including having an expired license or a license not attached to the vehicle, lack of registration of the vehicle with Transport Malta and lack of a valid insurance policy.
“Operations of this type will continue to be carried out in the coming days in order to ensure that the operation of these le-scooters is regulated as necessary,” said the Director of Enforcement of Transport Malta Patrick Pollacco.
“The Authority is committed to being more vigilant in enforcement by strengthening its presence on our roads. These le=scooters are being confiscated when these vehicles are not observing any existing traffic regulations.”
“I call on drivers to be responsible and observe driving regulations.”
Do you think there should be more enforcement of e-scooters?
