Young, News | Emelie (24) from Vinterbro with new material and tour
On an icy winter day at the end of January, 24-year-old Emelie Hollow from Vinterbro in Ås brought a guitar, a microphone and a small keyboard and took up residence in a remote cabin in Rondane, writes Universal Music Norway in a press release.
Friday the 13th. In January, the first two tracks came. The album, which will be released in May, is the result of a lot of self-imposed alone time.
Most of the songs on Solitude were made in front of the fireplace during a week of solitude.
Falling in love
The songs on the album will be released one at a time, and will show different sides of the feelings you can have when you are in love.
– I think of it a bit like Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf. Little Red Riding Hood is in love, on the way to the forest; happy, carefree, almost a little naive, completely unaware of doubt, in the form of a wolf, lurking in the bushes, explains Emelie.

Frustration
This dualism can already be felt on I Don’t Believe it, the first single from the upcoming album. Not only so much when the song stands – the tug-of-war occurs when it meets its lighter counterpart, N o One’s Ever Looked at Me Like That.
– These are two songs that are partly born out of the frustration that you are not better able to control your own mindset, but instead allow yourself to be sucked up by self-destructive thoughts and feelings.
– You experience something that you know is good, and you know it physically, but it is this little voice that says that there is no one who can love you and that you must not get carried away, says Emelie.
She herself sees the two songs as twins more than as direct opposites – or even twins that go in different directions. On the whole, the album is conceptually built around a number of different pairs of twins who sound like they are performing to and almost talking to each other, possibly about each other, behind the other’s back.
Musicality
Emelie Hollow has made a name for herself with her strong musicality, songwriting skills and not least for her beautiful vocals.
Today, she is an established artist who stands firmly on her own two feet, with a very special ability to write songs at the intersection between melancholy and euphoria.
After releasing her first EP in 2019, followed by a Bylarm concert in Kulturkirken Jakob which blew the entire Norwegian music industry off course, Emelie released the debut album “Half The Story” in 2021. At one point last year, five of the songs from the album were on the country’s radio playlists at the same time.
Over the years, theirs has additionally become a sought-after songwriter, with upbringing in cities such as Stockholm, Copenhagen, London and Nashville.
The musical collaborations have been many: Dagny, Seeb, Ruben, Emma Steinbakken, Victoria Nadine, Alexander Oscar, Jesper Jenset, TIX, Skaar and Alan Walker none of the artists have a contact list.
Emelie and Alan Walker’s «LILY», which both wrote and was a guest vocalist on, has today been streamed more than three billion times worldwide. She was nominated for the Spellemannpris in 2021 in the Songwriter of the Year category.
