Team Austria Tafel moved: New issuing office of the TÖT
The previous office of the Red Cross was adapted as an issuing office for the Team Austria Tafel. Red Cross district head Rudolf Luipersbeck expects that this 4th issuing office in Oberwart will be a longer home for the killing in order to be able to provide services to people in need in a dignified manner.
MAINMAN With little effort, the old Red Cross office – walls removed and new doors installed – was converted into the Team Austria Tafel distribution point in order to meet the needs of the clients. Franz Polster and Martin Bogad are responsible for the TÖT in Oberwart with a total of over 50 volunteer Red Cross employees.
Balance high loads
Inflation, high energy prices and increased rents are putting more and more strain on household budgets. In many cases, money for groceries is tight – in such cases, Team Austria supports the Red Cross table.
Every Saturday, a TÖT team prepares food distribution for people in financial need. At the moment, more customers are coming to the Team Österreich Tafel because there are more needy people in our society than we assume. A lot of poverty hides behind “everyone is fine in Austria”. TÖT therefore needs more and more groceries and hygiene articles, which are picked up by TÖT employees from supermarkets, small and medium-sized businesses, but are also donated to TÖT by private individuals.
These articles are distributed in Oberwart every Saturday from 6:00 p.m. at the Red Cross distribution point to people who are demonstrably at risk of poverty – regardless of whether they are refugees or locals. The Team Austria Tafel has existed for 13 years and was originally planned by the Red Cross and Ö3-Hitradio – in Oberwart weekly food supplies are collected for around 230 people.
