Fortuna Dusseldorf: Successful conclusion of the training camp against Zurich – Bundesliga football clubs
In the Estadio Municipal La Línea de la Concepción, Fortuna beat the Swiss first division team Grasshopper Club Zurich 1-0.
In 120 minutes (two halves of 60 minutes each) Michal Karbownik (21) scored the golden goal of the day.
After an uneventful 80 minutes, Shinta Appelkamp (22), who came on as a substitute at half-time, played a diagonal pass into Karbownik’s run. The Pole does not take the ball properly, but twists around his opponent and nails the ball under the crossbar with his left hand (81′).
Coach Daniel Thioune (48) was satisfied with the last test: “We controlled the opponent for 120 minutes, allowed little and defended well. It could have been more goals. But I more than agree with the way the game went.”
Surprise at the beginning of the game: 3. Keeper Dennis Gorka (20) starts and plays through quickly. He was later replaced by Leon Klußmann (20), who is making his professional debut. Captain Andre Hoffmann (29) and Raphael Wolf (34) are both missing due to muscular problems, Florian Kastenmeier (25) is watching from the stands.
Fortuna is optically superior, but only comes to a dangerous end in the first half: Marcel Sobottka (28) conquers the ball 20 meters in front of the goal, plays directly into the run to Rouwen Hennings (35). Zurich’s goalkeeper keeps his low shot brilliant.
Then comes the flying Dutchman: First Jordy de Wijs (30) slips up and plays a back pass too short. Then he lies across the air and blocks the bullet (26th).
De Wijs is also one of the most dangerous players on Fortuna’s side. A header goes just over it, later he follows a dangerous direct acceptance from 18 meters – but the keeper holds.
At the break, coach Daniel Thioune (48) changes and stays strictly with his chain of three, as he does throughout the training camp. Fortuna then plays more powerfully, deserves the lead, but otherwise plays too imprecisely in the last third of the game.
In the final phase, compared to the Dortmund test, Kwadwo Baah (19), Takashi Uchino (21), Marcel Mansfeld (21) also come in.
Bitter for Baah: Shortly before the end he had to get out violently, grabbed his back thigh – suspected torn muscle fiber.
Fortuna and Baah remains a misunderstanding…
