The leadership of the European part of the fencing world gathered in Paris – the site of the Women’s and Men’s Dagger World Cup at the end of the week. At the initiative of Giorgio Scarso, the recently elected president of the European Fencing Federation, the professionals developed a work program that, among other things, talks about the progress of the European nations in training, the organization of joint training camps, and the unified international representation of the continent. Three countries with long traditions in the sport, Hungary, France and Italy, will take the main role in this, but Spain will also participate in the implementation of the plans.
Zsolt Csampa told hunfencing.hu that “our association has agreed to host the international coaching training for fencing in the future”. – “The agreement on this matter was written by representatives of the other three nations, in addition to the European confederation, that the plan is to expand the project to the entire continent. We also undertook to solve the related professional, organizational and administrative tasks, in order to achieve beautiful and useful work. we are looking at representing our most traditional type of weapon.”
“I am grateful for the invitation of the Hungarian Fencing Association, and I consider it a great initiative to take on a new role in our most successful Olympic sport,” Zsolt Gyulay told the association’s website.
“In addition, I met and talked with very high-ranking colleagues, because the Italian sports minister and the French president of the French Olympic Committee were here. Of course, the Paris Olympics were also discussed during the negotiations. I was also able to meet with György Habsburg, the ambassador to Hungary, during the day, so it was a really busy day. we are closing,” he added.
