On October 14, 2022, 42 workers lost their lives in the mine belonging to the Turkish Hard Coal Institution (TTK) Amasra Institution, and the Amasra Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office prepared a suspicious report against 24, 8 of whom were imprisoned.

In the record, Amasra Institution Manager Cihat Özdemir, Operations Manager Selçuk Ekmekçi, Chief Engineer of Occupational Safety and Training Volkan Soylu and Chief Engineer Mehmet Tural, who were imprisoned, 42 times for the murder of “possible intentional killing” and 10 times for “possible intentional injury”. A one-year prison sentence was requested.
The other 20 suspects, 4 of whom are imprisoned, were asked to be sentenced to 15 prisons each for “causing death by negligence” and up to 3 prisons each for “injury by negligence”.
