Peter Pavel’s overwhelming victory in Prague, where he won over 50 percent of the vote
Former Chief of the General Staff Petr Pavel won overwhelmingly in the 1st round of the presidential elections in Prague. He won over 50 percent of the vote here, with more than 30 percent of the movement for the second chairman of ANO, Andrej Babiš. Therefore, if only the results from the capital were counted, Pavel would become president already after the 1st round.
Danuše Nerudová finished third in Prague with less than 15 percent, which copies her nationwide results. Overall, it reached roughly 14 percent.
Pavel also won in the Central Bohemia region, where he beat Babiš by 10 percent. He also won in the East Bohemian, Liberec and South Moravian regions, always with a small to close lead over Andrej Babiš. If they took into account the results in individual districts, then Pavel won in the belt from České Budějovice through Central Bohemia and Prague to Eastern Bohemia and the Giant Mountains.
According to sociologist Daniel Prokop from PAQ Research, Petr Pavel scored mainly in rich regions, where he defeated Danuša Nerudová. In contrast, Babiš dominated in areas with a lower rate of socio-economic development and education and a higher rate of foreclosures and poverty.
What is the key to Andrej Babiš’s high result – participation varies, but in poorer municipalities and cities it is around 62-63%. Both parts of the spectrum mobilized. /2 pic.twitter.com/wZ0l6klEp5

Former prime minister Babiš, on the other hand, won in all other regions. He traditionally won by the largest margin in the Moravian-Silesian and Ústí Regions. In Moravskoslezské it was 17 percent, in Ústecký by 18 percent. At the same time, two prominent members of his ANO movement and successful politicians in the Moravian-Silesian region, i.e. governor Ivo Vondrák and Ostrava mayor Tomáš Macura, declared in advance that they would not support their chairman Babiš.
