At a joint meeting of the Committee on Internal Security and Public Order with the Committee on Internal Affairs of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, they discussed the current state of the republic on the state border with Turkey, the refugee flow and cooperation between the two countries.
The Chairman of the Committee on Internal Security and Public Order Hamid Hamid welcomed the guests from Turkey and introduced the Bulgarian people’s representatives who participate in the Committee on Internal Security and Public Order.
The Chairman of the Internal Affairs Commission of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, Celaletin Güvenç, first of all, thank you for your interest. “We dedicate this visit to the friendship between the two countries and the cooperation between the two countries. We are here with 26 deputies from our parliament who represent all of Turkey.”
“I want to express my satisfaction that we are in your parliament. Thank you for the invitation. For us, Bulgaria is an allied country and the activities that will be developed and with our commissions we will develop the relations and the economy between the two countries,” he said.
Guvench says that after the Covid crisis, Bulgaria and Turkey are resuming intensive contacts with each other.
“It is about 7 million dollars of economic cooperation between the two countries, which we want to continue to develop.”
Regarding the migrant pressure, Guvench said that the comments on the cooperation between the two countries have an impact on other European countries.
“The cooperation along the border satisfies us, but we must work to improve the X-ray equipment along the borders. The passage of citizens will be much faster. carried in one vehicle. For us, Bulgaria is a trade route to Europe. According to statistics, 2700 TIRs pass through your country to Europe. If we notice the waiting at the border points, we will solve many of the problems that the drivers of refrigerated trucks have,” he added.
“Dealing with the channelers is beyond the power of this one country. It is important for us to go together to make a common effort, to identify criminal groups that are all more organized on both sides trafficking people, and in the most brazen way. I am sure that the specialized structures and intelligence services of both countries are in constant communication. I am convinced that this meeting will give an additional voice. This is the biggest door in Europe. Unfortunately, the border is not one of the busiest in terms of refugee and migrant pressure. I am sure that both countries will find the necessary measures to deal with the migrant pressure,” commented Hamid Hamid.
