Frankfurt/Berlin (dpa) – According to Transparency Germany, the trial against a former senior public prosecutor in Frankfurt am Main shows the need for better control measures to avoid corruption in the judiciary. “The case undermines trust in the third power,” said a board member of Transparency Germany, Heribert Hirte, on Friday in Berlin and called for “fundamental consequences”.
“Comprehensive control instruments must be introduced in the judiciary, compliance management systems, such as those used by the financial market supervisory authority and tightened there in the wake of the Wirecard scandal,” said Hirte. This also included “raising awareness of any abnormalities in our willingness to question the behavior of our colleagues.”
