Kyriakos Mitsotakis: “Strong Thrace, Strong Greece – You are the mirror of our country to our neighbors”
There are more than 360 projects with a budget of close to 7.6 billion euros, which were presented by the numerous echelons of critical ministries, in the context of the Prime Minister’s visit to the Rhodope Mountains.
From the Prime Minister’s reports, the new Komotini Hospital stood out, which will be ready in 2025 and will be a health unit throughout Greece.
The University of Athens was one of the first stops of Mr. Mitsotakis’ visit to Komotini, underlining its importance as the third university in the country. Regarding the new departments, the operation of the psychology department in Didymoteicho next year and the following year in the Occupational Therapy department in Komotini.
He focused especially on the upgrading projects in the two ports – Kavala and Alex/polis. The first will be privatized, while the second, by personal decision of the Prime Minister, remains under the control of the State, due to the critical circumstances. He placed special emphasis on combined transport, making use of ports, airports and railways.
Regarding the AM-Th-Thessaloniki-Toxotes-Komotini railway connection, Alex/polis clarified that the project will be done, however, the upgrade projects that were also carried out on the existing network will be delayed.
Here the prime minister also mentioned the land transport equivalent, where transport will be provided via the railway, from the region to Thessaloniki.
Regarding the Kompsatou Dam, both the Prime Minister and the Minister of Rural Development and Food, Giorgos Georgantas, are on track to update the environmental studies and the ministry will make every possible effort to create the project.
Mr. Mitsotakis’ reference to the demographic decline was typical, saying that the region should receive special support in order to stop the flow of internal migration.
Mr. Mitsotakis asked for a second term, which will result from the citizens who will judge the work of the government. In the second term, for which he used the term progressive reversal, as he emphasized, his first priority is health and better wages.
He proposed the dilemma of these crucial Spring elections which is none other than continuity in anticipation, stability, consistency and continuity, in the face of the second time in Symfora – closed banks, exorbitant taxes -, attributing the absence of a program on the part of SYRIZA . . He also emphasized that the first ballot will produce the next day’s government.
He closed his speech with the words of Democritus from Xanthi: “Think right, speak right and do the right thing”, expressing his optimism that the forces of truth and progress will win.
