Expensive gasoline has become more congested in Budapest
The fuels of its price tag with its termination, many use the decline in car traffic. On the other hand, since then there has been more traffic and more traffic jams making the lives of Budapest residents miserable – referring to the data of Budapesti Közűt Zrt. People’s word.
According to the newspaper, in the first two weeks of December, the number of vehicles was two more than in the previous fourteen days, when it was still cheaper price hiker private individuals could refuel.
This can also be explained by the fact that approaching the holidays, usually more people get into the car, but the turnover also increased year-on-year. A year earlier, in the fortnight of 2021 – when fuel was already a price cap – ten traffic had the first lower Budapest in his ways.
It is interesting that the KSH according to the number of vehicles did not increase at the same rate as the trafficwhich leads to the conclusion that not only more people get into cars, but also that the owners no longer own cars.
According to Mile Tibor, director of the traffic safety branch of the Hungarian Automobile Club many people commute daily between their agglomeration residences and their workplaces in the capital, and many simply cannot put the car down.
According to the specialist there are also psychological reasons for the higher traffic: the fuel shortage at the end of last year, many people were happy that gasoline and diesel were available at all after that, and because of persistently high inflation, people’s “pain threshold” was higher.
