Ex-policeman ‘Gorilla’ arrested for importing 2.2 tons of cocaine | Drug war in Antwerp
Chapels/AntwerpThe suspended police officer Jens V., nicknamed ‘Gorilla’ and who works at the PZ Grens, has been arrested in an investigation into the import of 2.2 tons of cocaine. The suspected policeman is in prison for the time being, together with drug criminal Chris N. from Stabroek and Sohaib A. from Berchem.

According to the Antwerp public prosecutor’s office, the federal judicial police (FGP) started its investigation with information about the trade in ecstasy and the production of amphetamines. An import of nearly 2.2 tons of cocaine was also reported, which was found in March 2022. Missing out on that party would have led to a liquidation, for which a weapon was sought. In the end, the liquidation does not take place.

Spokesman Kristof Aerts of the Antwerp public prosecutor’s office: “On Wednesday, searches were carried out in our country in Berchem, Kapellen and Stabroek and five people were arrested. It concerns a 41-year-old man from Berchem, a 42-year-old man from Stabroek, his parents aged 73 and 74 and a designated police inspector aged 36 from Kapellen. A police action was also organized in the Netherlands, during which one suspect was also arrested. During the house searches in our country, an alarm pistol, steroids and vehicles were seized.”
30 months advanced
The designated police officer is Jens V. (36) from Kapellen. He and his partner, who is also a community police officer, were discredited in February 2022 in another drug investigation. During a house search at his home in Kapellen, investigators found a bag with 350 ecstasy pills and 156 grams of speed. The drugs were within reach of their up to seven-year-old species. The trial in that case was held on Wednesday. The prosecutor has demanded a 30-month prison sentence against Jens V. The definition will follow later this month.
