“United Russia” will nominate war veterans for elections in 2023
In 2023, United Russia will nominate former military, volunteers, as well as volunteers who worked in the Donbass for elections to legislative executive bodies, report Vedomosti, citing four sources in the presidential administration.
According to one of the interlocutors, such participation in the initiative takes place, because “there is a demand for it in society.” “These people measure themselves as patriots, so if any of them want to make a political feature, then they have every opportunity,” another source said.
According to a source close to the State Duma, on this occasion, several deputies went as part of a “special military operation.” They can use the status of “veterans” in the upcoming election campaigns. As an example, we can name the deputy of the State Duma from Khakassia Sergey Sokol, who arrived in Donbass as a volunteer. Sokol claims that the servants in “intelligence” are part of the “Cascade” unit. The day before, he announced that he had extended a three-month contract with the Ministry of Defense. In 2023, Sokol may take part in the election of the governor of Khakassia.
Three more parliamentary parties are ready to stake on the participants in the war in Ukraine. First Deputy Chairman of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation Yuri Afon said that about 400 groups are participating in the hostilities as volunteers, 13 people have died, and another 400 are exclusively “active in the Donbass.” Dmitry Gusev, deputy head of the Just Russia group, said that 56 groups are participating in the hostilities. Aleksey Didenko, deputy head of the LDPR group, said that “several hundred” groups are formed in combat operations. “But in the near future or later, all the goals of military special operations will be achieved, they will return to world life, and our party elite will soon appear,” Didenko said.
