Moscow. January 10th. Interfax-REAL ESTATE – Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Marat Khusnullin and First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar discussed joint projects in the field of infrastructure construction during a meeting in Moscow on Tuesday, a government meeting reported.
“In December last year, an action plan was signed at the level of the ministry to implement measures from each side. In addition, we approved a five-year plan for roads, which is important to synchronize with activities on the road network of the Republic of Kazakhstan,” Khusnullin said.
He noted that last year a lot of work was done to develop the transport network between the countries. The parties discussed the status of the activities included in the plan and outlined further steps for the development of international routes.
Sklyar, in turn, showed the readiness of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the further implementation of gaming projects in the field of infrastructure construction.
Khusnullin focused on the choice of linking rail and road transport, and also confirmed that the Russian side is still interested in implementing the Meridian highway project.
Earlier it was reported that the workload of “Meridian” is estimated at a total of 12 thousand cars per day, including cars and trucks. The potential average volume of cargo by 2035 is estimated at 6.1 to 11.5 million tons, of which 11% is transit cargo.
In 2020, it was reported that the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation was actively working with investors on the Meridian toll highway construction project, the initiator of which declared interest in the capital investment protection and encouragement mechanism (CPP). The initiator of the Meridian construction project was Alexander Ryazanov, chairman of the board of the Russian Holding Company. According to the plan of the initiating party, the route with a length of about 2 thousand km must pass through the territory of eight regions: the Orenburg, Samara, Saratov, Tambov, Lipetsk, Oryol, Bryansk and Smolensk economies.
