VIDEO/ Kaufland Moldova publishes the first Sustainability Report. Over 2.4 million lei investments in social projects – Ziarul de Gardă
Kaufland Moldova announces the publication of the Sustainability report, which provides a complete and transparent analysis of the company’s achievements and the impact of its activities in the 2021 financial year (March 2021 – February 2022).
The report corresponds to all the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) international reporting standards and includes concrete sustainability measures and actions carried out by the company, with the evolution including measurable results and the real impact in society, economy or environment. In addition, the report was audited by a specialized company, in accordance with the ISAE 3000 Standard. In this way, under the umbrella of “Involvement Makes a Difference”, Kaufland reconfirmed its commitment to being a strategic and transparent economic and social partner for the Republic of Moldova . .
The analysis includes data on investments at the level of the portfolio, developed with responsibility and products for the needs of consumers, the work environment, as well as the company’s human resources policy. At the same time, the report provides information about the supply chain of Kaufland stores, initiatives to reduce the impact on the environment and, last but not least, about projects with an impact in the community.
Kaufland’s sustainable approach is reflected throughout the value chain, with the company sharing progress in the 2021 Sustainability Report (March 2021 – February 2022). Key products include:
investment
- The company invested over 717 million MDL in the Republic of Moldovain 2021, to be able to offer residents the most modern shopping experience;
- Over 98 million MDL size fees and taxes paid to the state;
Local suppliers
- Over 5500 items from local manufacturers and suppliers can be found on the shelves of Kaufland stores. The product listing process is continuous;
- 50% of our expenses with suppliers were directed to local suppliersi.e. 385 million lei;
staff
- Kaufland Moldova invests in its teams, being the first retailer in the country to obtain the title of Top Employer;
- 742 people employed in the financial year 2021;
- The total financial value of the beneficiaries offered to employees in the reporting period was of over 12.8 million lei.
- The company supports gender equality: for example40% of management positions are held by women. Overall, the company was made up of 25.9% men and 74.1% women;
environment
• All Kaufland Moldova stores have waste collection machines, installed in parking lots, through which more than 335,000 recyclable packaging;
• The total investment budget for the expansion and maintenance of the network of recycling machines is of 708,000 thousand lei;
• The company recycled over 905 tons of waste generated from own operations;
• The company has developed its own integrated strategy to reduce the plastic used for its own brand products – REset plastic.
Community
- Over 2.44 million MDL investments in the communitythrough the projects carried out together with 6 partner NGOsin social causes, health, education, culture and environment.
- The total number of direct and indirect beneficiaries exceeded approx 13,000 thousand people.
Moreover, Kaufland Moldova assumed that it takes measures and implements projects that contribute to the realization UN Sustainable Development Goals (Global Compact)which anticipates most of the planet’s problems, from eradicating poverty, creating health and education, increasing urban sustainability, and upholding UN-recommended governance principles in human rights, anti-corruption, environmental protection and sustainable work practices. .
