Tourism in Siena, Fattorini: “The tourist tax will not be touched”
“No increase in tourist tax, we will continue to invest in tourism to de-seasonalize attendance in Siena: the latest signs are more than encouraging, despite the post-pandemic and energy crisis”.
The councilor for trade and tourism of the Municipality of Siena Stefania Fattorini takes stock of the situation on tourist presences in the city at the end of the Christmas holidays.
“The data, still not definitive and which we are processing together with the offices – explains Fattorini – are very positive, also the result of the strategies applied by the municipal administration on input from the mayor Luigi De Mossi, of the events on the bill ‘Art illuminates Christmas ‘ and New Year’s Eve, organized by the culture department”.
“The tourist tax will not be affected – Fattorini clarifies – as indeed announced by the councilor for the budget Luciano Fazzi during the illustration of the budget, then approved by the city council. Unfortunately we are once again witnessing real inferences not supported by facts, probably aimed at creating confusion in the operators, when instead it would be enough to deal with the administration or simply read the public documents available to everyone. The Municipality has never thought of increasing this tax, without prejudice to its use for tourism development policies”.
“On too many occasions – concludes Fattorini – in the face of numbers and concrete acts, such as the attendance recorded during the holidays, with sold out for some events, another reality continues to be drawn, citing half-empty structures or continuous criticalities. The municipal administration tries to meet everyone’s needs, listening to needs, trying to resolve the issues that may gradually emerge: others seem to think only of unloading the responsibilities on the Municipality”.
