Sports | Marseille: the crossing of the Corniche is full
And the palme d’or is awarded to Didier Padovani. The swimmer from the Côte Bleue passion club ASPTT scored twice: winner of the dolphin race, the most anticipated event of the day, he covered the 500m swim without a wetsuit in just over six minutes, in a fresh water at 15°C. A few minutes earlier, he had easily completed the 1,500m without fins.
Among the women, a fine performance by Team Marseille Natation swimmer Héloïse Roquet, who set the fourth best time in all categories in the 500m, in less than seven minutes.
She failed just three seconds from the podium but consoled herself by winning the best women’s time, with a comfortable lead of about fifteen seconds over her runner-up, Alix Deroubaix. “There were two races in oneunderlines the coordinator of the event, Laeticia Puiseux. The competitors who set a good time and the amateurs who were keen to reach the finish.“
In a rough sea, all the swimmers went to the end of their effort. “No dropouts were reported. indicates Laeticia Puiseux. On the starting line, beach of the Prophets, the candidates were numerous. Twice as much as last year“, welcomes Laetitia Puiseux.
More than 260 participants jumped into the water early in the morning under the watchful eye of a few onlookers strolling along the Corniche. Cautious, many appreciated the spectacle given by these brave people.
Note that for the second winter edition of the Traversée de la Corniche, the event was open to disabled swimmers. A great first. “Our desire is to make the race accessible to as many people as possible.” The objective has been achieved. The only invalid, the visually impaired Philippe Gatineau (read below) achieved a feat by going to the limit of his strength: finishing his 1,500 m, equipped with his flippers.
