The student publishing house Papier Bulle is not the least original of the 5 winning projects of the Bourse Tremplin 2022. The supporting association aims to promote the artistic talents of students from Rouen (in priority) and Normandy ). The first book is due out in June.
Through its Bourse Tremplin, a financial support system intended to support the initiatives of 15-25 year olds, the City is increasing the actions of young people from Rouen in favor of the general interest.
The verdict of the Tremplin 2022 stock exchange fell at the very end of November. And among the 5 crowned projects, there is the student publishing house Papier Bulle, which wins a now welcome aid of €2,000.
The cradle of the Bubble Paper adventure is the University of Rouen. The BVE (Bureau de la Vie Etudiante) oversees the project. Originally, the desire of a student from the Mont-Saint-Aignan campus to create a publishing house, two years ago. Due to a change in professional horizons, he abandons his plan after indicating €5,000 for the financier.
Anxious to use this envelope and to give shape to the idea for which it was created, the BVE turns to the public of the Digital Humanities Master’s – Parcours Editions Numériques and launches an appeal for goodwill. Several students from the sector will then commit, form a team.
This is how the association Papier Bulle appears, which will give birth to the publishing house of the same name, which was created last August. Around the president Sandy Gaillard, nine girls and a boy (the treasurer Valentin) mobilize. Under the impetus of the founding members who are the Malagasy Aurelia Andriamampianina, secretary, and the vice-president/community manager Eulalie Delaune (photo above).
A first publication expected for June
“Novel or short story, poetry, comics, photography, illustration… any student can submit their project to us and we see if it is publishable, says Aurelia, 23, in Master 2. Our role is to support and highlight the artistic talents that hold our attention.”
“Each member of the association acts as a tutor, a bit like a literary agent, specifies Eulalie, 24, also in Master 2. We want to be as present as possible to support student artists. Exchanges can lead to redesign the content of the creations, to reorient the work.”
The first production announced is a composite collection in paper version, hoped for June 2023. This publication in magazine format of at least 100 pages, on the theme “Souvenir(s)”, will exhibit works by students with opposite – see a presentation of their author. 200 copies minimum. €20 max. The process gave rise to a call for projects which runs until 31 January.
The Aurelia/Eulalie duo argued that Papier Bulle is intended to organize events or intervene in meetings. The association was present on November 17 at the big Zazimuts evening at the Town Hall. At the beginning of December, she organized a sale of second-hand books at the Halle aux Toiles at the ethical and responsible market Another market as part of the SSE (Social and Solidarity Economy) festival.
The duo also stresses that the Bubble Paper experience completes the training of its actresses. “The vast majority of our Master’s is about research. The creation of a publishing house is not part of our curriculum; we had only one book publishing course in Master 1, with text layout, rectification, etc.”
