Hey, hey! It’s time to dress in your best costume. Normandythe medieval-fantasy faircome back Saturday 11 and Sunday 12 February 2023 at Rouen (Seine-Maritime), organized by the French Medieval Federation (FFM).
After two years of absence, this fifth edition will welcome 250 exhibitors in a magical atmosphere, you take back time. On the program: entertainment, concerts, storytelling, fights… A weekend at the crossroads of eras and worlds.
Large medieval market
In a festive village, dive into the heart of the Middle Ages and admire the work of 250 exhibitorsfrom all walks of life: leather work, wood carving, ceramics, jewelry designers, costume designers, blacksmiths, authors and illustrators…
Other merchants will offer creations for role-playing games or historical re-enactments.
Animations and shows
Throughout the weekend, entertainment for young and old is reserved for you. Visitors are also part of the show, with costumes all more original than each other. “Most of the visitors make their own outfits,” says Jimmy Blin, member of the FFM.
UN competition is also organized on Sunday, with the themes “The Shadow and the Flame”, “Explorers” and “Orcs and Goblins”, where you can participate alone or in a group. In order to be seen, characters will be perched on stilts and walk through the crowd.
For the most agile, come and measure yourself against the throwing axesor in a battle arena with a viking tournament, CLASH fights, demonstrations of behourd and artistic fencing.
A musical atmosphere
Through the crowd, you will have the chance to hear sounds of yesteryear, like the medieval inspired music of Maisnie Hellequin, or the bagpipes of the Minstrels of Meskañ.
Eihwaz and his Celtic harp will hypnotize you, and Merwenn will wake you up in a Scandinavian atmosphere, during his first part of the Saturday evening concert. For big sound, Acus Vacuum is there on Saturday evening for a pagan-folk concert that will make you tremble!
Typical restoration
What would a medieval-fantasy festival be without tavern and hostel ? You can fill up with medieval dishes (including some vegetarian), drinks or pastries. Four breweries are participating in the event. For the less adventurous, more contemporary dishes will also be offered.
Saturday February 11, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.; Sunday, February 12, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
