Slavia showed reinforcements and Van Buren, Trpišovský described Pech’s injury
Slavia entered 2023 victorious. In the opening warm-up match, they beat Hradec Králové 1:0 with a goal by Moses Usor. Everything looks rosy, but it’s not. In the first half, David Pech, a winter replacement, left the game. The reason was intense pain in the thigh muscle. The East Bohemians lament even more. After nineteen minutes, Daniel Vašulín disappeared from the pitch due to an injured ankle. Both players are in danger of not flying to training camp on Tuesday.
Good background check at the beginning. Slavia made a date with Hradec Králové at the beginning of the winter preparations, after the autumn the fifth overall FORTUNA:LIGA. They managed the match at a decent pace 1:0, when twelve minutes before the end Moses Usor decided the first victory of the new year with a lucky goal.
Coach Jindřich Trpišovský sent two reinforcements and one new face to the event. Among the newcomers, Babacar Sy and stopper Igoh Ogbu, whom Slavia introduced only on Friday, did not present themselves.
In the first half, Mick van Buren, who returned from a loan spell in Liberec, got into the game. The quick-footed Dutchman had two interesting chances, but did not score. It is evident that he can help the runner-up a lot in the spring.
“I scored nine goals in the league in the fall, and another three in the cup. I was successful, I was very satisfied with the performance and workload. I hope that I will be able to transfer my autumn form to Slavia as well. I believe it will work,” he said after the match. “I think I had two good opportunities. Too bad it didn’t go there. The second should have been a goal. I hope it only gets better. We’ll see how it goes at training.”
The entire second half Petr Hronek. In position number ten. The former Bohemians player was also felt in the Slavia game. “I want them to help Slavia mainly by fighting, that’s what I’ve been building on,” he said shortly after the premiere match.
However, David Pech – unintentionally – drew the most attention from the newcomers. In the forty-first minute, he left the field with a pained expression on his face. “David Pech will go for an examination, it is a problem on the front of the thigh muscle, where he felt a pinch in it. It’s a preparation, we didn’t want to take any risks, so we withdrew him immediately,” coach Jindřich Trpišovský described the current state of affairs.

It may happen that Pech will not fly to the training camp in Portugal. In case I discover a more serious problem, he will stay in Prague. “We are clear about the nomination. But maybe we will adjust it according to David Pech’s health situation. There is a given number of players that we have to take to the training camp. We really liked Daniel Šmiga (nineteen-year-old forward) in the match against Hradec. We are considering taking him with us, he is a very interesting player,” said Trpišovský.
Slavia departs for the Algarve on Tuesday. It is likely that Lukáš Masopust, who is suffering from angina, will not be on the trip, but stopper David Hovorka will be rehabilitating at home. Tomáš Holeš, another convalescent, has an individual plan. “We will still discuss with Taras Kačaraba if he will fly with us or if it will be better for him to stay in Prague. It will be seen according to the control examination,” said the Slavist coach, adding that the Ukrainian player sustained the injury while fulfilling an individual plan.
They are even more confused in Hradec Králové. Right from the end of the match, Daniel Vašulín, one of the main weapons of the introverts, sprained his ankle. He too is in danger of not flying to the game camp in Antalya, Turkey. For the fifth team of FORTUNA:LIGY, an injury to the tall attacker would be a big inconvenience, also because another key offensive player, Filip Kubala, also has health problems.
