Pustertal started the race to catch up against HC Innsbruck too late
That would have gone wrong again for Innsbruck. In the end, the Haie won the 38th round of the win2day ICE Hockey League 5:3 at HC Pustertal.
The league leaders are the team that decides the game from the start and goes in front early on thanks to Shaw’s goal (8′). In the second third, Leavens (25th) and Bär (30th) make it 3-0 with a solid one-timer.
Helevka made the general preliminary decision with his goal 26 seconds before the second break (40th).
Unchanged picture in the last section: Innsbruck are still the dominant team and let very little burn in their own zone. Ten minutes before the end, Leavans made it 5-0 with his second goal of the evening (51st).
catching up remains unrewarded
When the fans of the wolves had already started to accept the clear defeat, Pustertal turned up the heat again. Deluca (53′) and Archambault (53′) meet after 25 seconds and let the fans cheer for the first time.
When Willcox reduced the lead to 3:5 just under three minutes before the end (57th), hope returned to the stands again. The three-minute constant pressure from the South Tyroleans went unrewarded in the end and Innsbruck saved the lead over time.
After the defeat against Bozen, the Haie are back on the road to victory and extend their lead in the standings to five points. Pustertal slipped down to tenth place due to the defeat.
