End of year meeting, in recent days at the Al Porto restaurant, for the members of Arco Obiettivo Europa, the association which since 1988 has managed relations with the three twin cities (Germany Schotten and Bogen and Calabrian Roccella Jonica) and the three friends (the Belgian Beloeil, the French Crosne and the Czech Rýmařov). In the presence of the councilor for culture Guido Trebo for the municipal administration, the president Lino Rosà presented a report on the past year: «After the long stop due to the pandemic – said Rosà – our business resumed in 2022 , from April with the first commitment with all members of the Schützen for the delivery of olive branches to Hall in Tirol for the Palm Festival. Second official commitment, the shareholders’ meeting at the end of April, then the first visit of Schotten’s friends accompanied by former mayor Hans Otto Ziemmermann. The 60th anniversary of the twinning between Arco and Schotten was celebrated on 7 July, with the participation of all the representatives of the twinned cities and friends of Arco, as well as all our members. Also in early July, we organized the twinning tour, which took place in Mantua for three days, where we visited Palazzo d’Arco, Palazzo Te and Palazzo Ducale and took part in a boat trip on the Mincio to admire the flowering Lotus flowers. The participants, among our members and foreign guests, were about sixty. In August the boys of the oratory were hosted in Roccella Jonica, our twin city. In September, the working meeting of our association in Crosne to plan the 2023 activity, and finally, in October, the trip to Vienna with the members».
At the end of the report, Lino Rosà informed of the change at the top of the association, following the election of the new board of directors during the last assembly: the new president is Michele Maroni, already a member of the previous board. Lino Rosà remains on the board as vice president; new secretary is Sonia Ghielmetti (in place of Paola Contrini, who remains on the board). This is the new board of directors: president Michele Maroni, vice president Lino Rosà, secretary Sofia Ghielmetti, treasurer Paolo Pedrotti, advisers Bruno Appoloni, Morena Bonomi, Cristina Bronzini, Cristina Colella, Paola Contrini, Emanuela Cretti, Arianna Miorelli, Paolo Negri and Roberto Luis Valenti .
“Lino Rosà’s activity and energy have been important for our city – says councilor Trebo – and they deserve our gratitude. I want to remind you that Arco grasped the meaning of twinning very early on, adopting it, even in 1960, with the German city of Schotten. Still difficult times in which it was important to help mend relations between nations that have been divided by terrible wars and to create a European identity. Lino Rosà even in the two years of the pandemic managed to keep alive relations with various initiates on IT channels. Now fortunately his experience will remain on the committee, which relies on Michele Maroni for the presidency, to whom we certainly wish him the best for a good job ”.
