Simultaneous operation against refugee smugglers from Turkey and Bulgaria
Bulgarian resident Minister Ivan Demerciev, in his speech at the Bulgarian company, announced that Turkey and Bulgaria will organize an operation against migrant and refugee smugglers. Demerciev said that criminal gangs will be destroyed within the scope of the operation and said, “We aim to bring down the criminal gangs engaged in illegal immigrant smuggling by organizing a special operation in our territory and in parallel with the Turkish sections.”
POLICE CAUGHT CARRYING ILLEGAL IMMIGRANTS
After the last refugee crisis, the Bulgarian Police mobilized. A Bulgarian policeman was caught while taking a minibus containing about 31 illegal immigrants from Turkey to Sofia. Using the police prisoner, the police said, “I have a lot of credits, my salary is low, so I’m smuggling refugees.” It turned out that the police had been smuggling immigrants before. The Ministry of Interior dismissed the 23-year-old police officer and launched an investigation.
On the other hand, in Burgas, on 25 August, two policemen lost their lives when a police car chasing a bus full of refugees crashed. Two Turkish brothers, who were identified during the Turkey-Bulgaria days last November 8, were mistaken for refugee traffickers by the police. The police lost his life as a result of the fire opened by the two brothers. It was stated that the two brothers, who were structured in connection with the Bulgarian police yesterday, are shepherds and not refugee traffickers, but animals grazing on the border came to the region to steal.
